Alpaca Etiquette

Alpacas are quiet and curious creatures so let them come up to you!

Please do NOT look them in the eye, yell or wave your arms because they see these actions as threats.

YES, spit happens.  Most likely it is not directed at you, but at another alpaca. Please just back away, so you will not continue to be in the line of fire.

Most alpacas enjoy their neck or back scratched. If they come stand by you, you may slowly reach out and gently scritch…avoid the temptation to pull out hay or sticks from their hair.

Most will eagerly take a snack from your cupped hands or from a dish if offered.
